Amidst his long career as a gallerist, art dealer, master custom framer and artist, Mr. Mariño has also built a reputation as an expert in art restoration that dates back to the 1950's.

Julio Mariño is currently a member of the

Washington Conservation Guild.

Julio Mariño draws unreservedly upon his experience as an artist and former owner the renowned South American art gallery –Galería Contemporánea– to provide ingenious solutions and advise clients on wide-ranging aspects of art collection, management, trade, and curatorial, restoration and conservation matters.

 

As an art restorer, Mr. Marino was regularly contracted by institutions including the National Museum of Visual Arts, the Department of Education & Culture, the Congress building, Montevideo City Hall, the City of Barcelona, the Museum of Fine Arts Juan Manuel Blanes, the Aparicio Saravia Museum, the Tomas Toribio Museum, the Museum of Man and Technology, the Municipal Museum of Colonia del Sacramento, the Gaucho and Mint Museum, the Ralli Museum in Punta del Este, the Museum of American Art in Maldonado, the Naval Club of Montevideo, the Central Bank, and the Banco Comercial. 

 

His work includes restorations of artworks by well-known Uruguayan artists including Joaquin Torres Garcia, Juan Manuel Blanes, Pedro Figari

 

In 2002, he restored more than 30 pieces of art work of distinguished Latin American painters such as the Brazilian Manabu Mabe and the Cuban Wilfredo Lam for the OAS Museum of the Americas and in 2012, he restored frescos in the Music Hall at the Cultural Institute of Mexico

​Julio Mariño currently resides in Washington, D.C., where he curates the Uruguayan Embassy's Cultural Foundation for the Arts, and continues to provide services in art restoration and conservation, collection management, exhibit installations and curations for private clients as well as institutions including the Cultural Institute of Mexico, several embassies, and the OAS Museum of the Americas.
